I’m Jack Elway. I’m a retired professional photographer currently living with my family in the outskirts of suburban Denver. I didn’t retire that long ago, so I still feel the wanderlust time and again. Nevertheless, I keep myself busy taking pictures of scenes from my neighborhood and on occasion, the city.  Often, I take every opportunity to go to the wilderness just outside the city to take pictures of the native wildlife of Colorado, something that I have not always been able to appreciate back when I was a lot busier.

I’ve since adapted to life as a suburban dad and currently live with my wife Jessica and our teenage daughter Bridget. Our older son Edward followed in my footsteps and had become a photographer himself, having taken the reins of the photography business we started. Bridget is on her way to film school, having preferred moving pictures to stills.

Since retirement, I’ve started experimenting with other forms of photography I only had a brief chance at trying back when I was still on assignment.  My current interest is in macrophotography, with natural objects and minuscule wildlife being one of my favorite macro subjects.

Jessica and I still do a lot of traveling whenever we could, taking a lot of candid pictures of the places we visit (and us doing quirky tourist things along the way). While we have done our share of international travel, currently many of our itineraries are cross-country, many of which are road trips.

Having been a nature photographer for much of my career, I’ve developed a soft spot for nature and have become a supporter of conservation and an ardent advocate for ecologically responsible travel.
